KCR Programs : Immigrant Services
Host & Buddy Programs
People immigrate to our country every year to build a new life for themselves and their families. They come from different cultures into a new environment and are faced with many challenges.
Host Friendship Program
The Host Friendship Program for newcomers to Canada is a friendship program designed to match adult community residents with newcomers, helping them learn how to live in Canada, adjust to the community and provide an opportunity to practice English.
As a volunteer with the Host Friendship Program, you become a guide to life in your community. In return, you open a whole new world of friendship. It's an exciting chance to learn about different cultures and make new friends.

Buddy Program
The Buddy Program is designed to provide newcomer youth with an opportunity to build positive social networks and connections by matching young volunteers in Grades 8 –12 with newcomers who attend the same school. Spending one lunch hour together per week is all it takes to make a difference and help someone feel welcome in their new school and community.
