Educational Series for the Voluntary Sector

The Community Information & Volunteer Centre Education Workshop Series continues!

In an ongoing effort to provide educational opportunities for the voluntary sector, this series of workshops has been designed specifically to elevate the knowledge and professionalism of Executive Directors, the Board of Directors, Volunteer Managers, and senior staff.
 
The series is brought to you through a joint venture between Kelowna Community Resources, Central Okanagan Foundation, the City of Kelowna, and the United Way of the Central and South Okanagan/Similkameen.

Sustainability Planning: Increasing the Long-term Viability of Your Programs

New research shows there are concrete steps you can take to increase the longevity of your programs. Kylie Hutchinson will lead you through interactive and hands-on activities as you learn how to increase the odds of sustaining your program.  She has facilitated this workshop for BC agencies including Volunteer Vancouver, Vancouver Coastal Health, Public Health Agency of Canada and United Way.

Overview of Volunteer Management

This 4-day workshop will help improve the ability of your organization to attract and retain volunteers.  Extensive research has resulted in completely updated materials.  Youth volunteerism, adult learning styles, a new communication module and the Canadian national volunteer statistics released in June, 2009 have been added.

You will also:

  • Master the volunteer retention cycle
  • Develop the tools to effectively respond to current and emerging issues
  • Understand the complexities of leadership, influence, and organizational relationships and structures
  • Learn to create and market successful volunteer programs.
